The following are known to be free and good anti-virus programs. If anyone has any others to list or would like to discuss this further please feel free to reply. -B
Ofcourse I will give you guys the direct links so you don't need to go clicking through stuff...
AVG Free Anti-Virus:
AVG Anti Virus Home Page
AVG Free Anti Virus Direct Download Link
If that doesn't work then try the AVG Anti Virus Download Page but you'll need to follow the links for the free version, select the one on the left.
If you download the trial version it will limit you to a certain amount of days where as the free one will remain free but will just keep prompting you to purchase the full version and will give you reasons that the full version is better. So what is the difference between trial and free? The free version doesn't provie automated protection. The free version does however have options to setup scheduled scans which.
Avast Free Anti-Virus:

If the link above doesn't work then try the Avast Anti Virus Download Page but you might have to click your way through to download.
I haven't fully tested Avast enough to compare the differences between the trial and free version. Once I will, I'll edit this post and explain. Honestly though, it is a good free anti-virus alternative and might even be the best so far. Again, I'm still testing it.

Avira AntiVir:

Avira AntiVir Direct Download
In my opinion one of the very best Antivirus engines around. The free version shows an upgrade popup each update, otherwise a fully functional antivirus solution. It's made in germany and is light on resources.
